I currently am doing a paid internship with a local church in Winnetka called Grace Presbyterian Church and I teach sunday school every sunday morning for kids ages 5-10 & I absolutely LOVE it!!
today we only had 11 kids due to the weather & most families being away for Spring Break so it was very nice to have such a small group for a change (we usually average abt 30 kids)
today we talked abt Thomas and how he doubted that Jesus had risen from the dead until he was actually able to see Jesus & touch the holes in his hands and feet...
so we began to discuss how it is sometimes difficult to believe in something you can't see- but really there are a lot of things we believe in/experience everyday that we are not able to see; such as the air all around us that we breathe in and breathe out, the wind, our bones, brain, heart, the past and the future... & many more... the kids really were able to give some good answers but by far the funniest thing that was said today was when I asked the kids if we could see love...
i guess I should've known that there was the possibility of that question going the wrong way but i figured they would just comment on how we can show love by doing nice things for each other or giving a friend a hug..
ha well the first answer I was given after I asked, "How do we know love is real if we cant see it?" one little girl quickly shouted, "We can make love!" LOL as soon as she said it i started to freak out thinking "oh crap this is awkward..." so I cautiously responded by saying, "oh yeah? how so?" not wanting to assume the worst lol and thankfully she quickly answered me by saying, "by like drawing hearts and stuff"
hahaha I couldn't help but laugh at her innocence :) kids are so great!

God has a sense of humor :)
haha this morning i was doing my daily devotions & I was reading in 1 Corinthians... lol chapter 12 talks abt spiritual gifts & how we are all different & yet each of us contribute & are important to the body of Christ.. which of course goes along perfectly with my new interest in how we all have different personalities!
hmm.. maybe God is trying to teach me something- I love it when He does that :)

ESFJ
im sorry but here is more info abt my personality lol im so impressed on how accurate it is abt things & its interesting to figure out what your friends and family are & idk it just really seems to tell a lot abt someone... I feel like when you meet someone new you should find out what personality type they are.. that way you can understand each other better.. but then again i guess that takes away the fun challenges of really getting to know someone.. idk anyways here it is:
ESFJ: The Caregiver
As an ESFJ, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit in with your personal value system. Your secondary mode is internal, where you take things in via your five senses in a literal, concrete fashion.
ESFJs are people persons - they love people. They are warmly interested in others. They use their Sensing and Judging characteristics to gather specific, detailed information about others, and turn this information into supportive judgments. They want to like people, and have a special skill at bringing out the best in others. They are extremely good at reading others, and understanding their point of view. The ESFJ's strong desire to be liked and for everything to be pleasant makes them highly supportive of others. People like to be around ESFJs, because the ESFJ has a special gift of invariably making people feel good about themselves.
The ESFJ takes their responsibilities very seriously, and is very dependable. They value security and stability, and have a strong focus on the details of life. They see before others do what needs to be done, and do whatever it takes to make sure that it gets done. They enjoy these types of tasks, and are extremely good at them.
ESFJs are warm and energetic. They need approval from others to feel good about themselves. They are hurt by indifference and don't understand unkindness. They are very giving people, who get a lot of their personal satisfaction from the happiness of others. They want to be appreciated for who they are, and what they give. They're very sensitive to others, and freely give practical care. ESFJs are such caring individuals, that they sometimes have a hard time seeing or accepting a difficult truth about someone they care about.
With Extraverted Feeling dominating their personality, ESFJs are focused on reading other people. They have a strong need to be liked, and to be in control. They are extremely good at reading others, and often change their own manner to be more pleasing to whoever they're with at the moment.
ESFJs who have had the benefit of being raised and surrounded by a strong value system that is ethical and centered around genuine goodness will most likely be the kindest, most generous souls who will gladly give you the shirt off of their back without a second thought. For these individuals, the selfless quality of their personality type is genuine and pure.
ESFJs at their best are warm, sympathetic, helpful, cooperative, tactful, down-to-earth, practical, thorough, consistent, organized, enthusiastic, and energetic. They enjoy tradition and security, and will seek stable lives that are rich in contact with friends and family.
ESFJs are warm-hearted individuals who highly value their close personal relationships. They are very service-oriented, and their own happiness is closely tied into the happiness and comfort of those around them. They are valued for their genuine warm and caring natures, and their special ability to bring out the best in others. They usually do not handle conflict well, and may tend to be very controlling or manipulative. Relationships are central to their lives, and they put forth a great amount of energy into developing and maintaining their close interpersonal relationships. They expect the same from others.
+ strengths +
* Put forth a lot of effort to fulfill their duties and obligations
* Warm, friendly and affirming by nature
* Service-oriented, they want to please others
* Take their commitments very seriously, and seek lifelong relationships
* Responsible and practical, they can be counted on
* Generally upbeat and popular, people are drawn towards them
* Generally very good money managers
* Traditionally minded and family-oriented, they will make family celebrations and traditions special events
- weaknesses -
* Generally uncomfortable with change, and moving into new territories
* Extreme dislike of conflict and criticism
* Need a lot of positive affirmation to feel good about themselves
* May be overly status-conscious, and interested in how others see them
* Have very difficult time accepting the end of a relationship, and are likely to take the blame for the failure onto their own shoulders
* Have difficulty accepting negative things about people close to them
* Don't pay enough attention to their own needs, and may be self-sacrificing
* May tend to use guilt manipulation as a way to get what they want
Although the ESFJ usually puts their family in front of their friends, they do place a lot of importance on their close friendships, and feel tremendous loyalty towards their friends. Since they feel tremendous pressure in their lives to constantly "do their duty", they may sometimes turn their friendships into another task or responsibility. Usually, however, they get a lot of enjoyment from their friendships, and give back a lot of affirming warmth.
ESFJs are valued by others for their genuine interest in people, and for their warmth and kind-heartedness. They have a special skill at seeing the best in others, and making people feel good about themselves. As such, they usually have a relatively large number of very close friends, usually of all different personality types.

Server/Caregiver/Guardian/Provider/ESFJ
tonight I attended an event on campus called, "Loving Our Differences" & it was an event designed to help you understand more abt yourself & also the different personality types of those around you.
it was so interesting to me to see how when she would describe each type of personality how a close friend or family member would come to mind almost immediately.. & when she read/talked abt the one I identified with most it was like every point she made or example she gave it was as if she was talking specifically abt me!!!
after the meeting was over I walked back to my dorm room, I walked with my two roommates Savanna & Danielle & we discussed the different personality types & shared with one another which one we thought we fit best. Although I felt as if I had attributes in all 4 of the categories listed I believe that God designed me to be like the Server/Caregiver
Server/Caregiver is described as being:
+ patient, calm, loyal, persistent, good listener, relaxed, emotional, relationally focused
- insecure, easily manipulated, procrastinator, can't say no (doormat), hates confrontation
the other categories were Ruler/Commander, Promoter/Cheerleader, & Designer/Contemplator
as soon as we got back in the room we all decided to take more personality tests online!! here are my results...
Your type is: ESFJ
Providers take it upon themselves to insure the health and welfare of those in their care, but they are also the most sociable of all the Guardians, and thus are the great nurturers of social institutions such as schools, churches, social clubs, and civic groups. Providers are very likely more than ten percent of the population, and this is fortunate for the rest of us, because friendly social service is a key to their nature. Wherever they go, Providers happily give their time and energy to make sure that the needs of others are met, and that social functions are a success.
Highly cooperative themselves, Providers are skilled in maintaining teamwork among their helpers, and are also tireless in their attention to the details of furnishing goods and services. They make excellent chairpersons in charge of dances, banquets, class reunions, charity fund-raisers, and the like. They are without peer as masters of ceremonies, able to speak publicly with ease and confidence. And they are outstanding hosts or hostesses, knowing everyone by name, and seemingly aware of what everyone's been doing. Providers love to entertain, and are always concerned about the needs of their guests, wanting to make sure that all are involved and provided for.
Friendly, outgoing, neighborly - in a word, Providers are gregarious, so much so that they can become restless when isolated from people. They love to talk with others, and will often strike up a conversation with strangers and chat pleasantly about any topic that comes to mind. Friendships matter a great deal to Providers, and their conversations with friends often touch on good times from years past. Family traditions are also sacred to them, and they carefully observe birthdays and anniversaries. In addition, Providers show a delightful fascination with news of their friends and neighbors. If we wish to know what's been going on in the local community, school, or church, they're happy to fill us in on all the details.
Providers are extremely sensitive to the feelings of others, which makes them perhaps the most sympathetic of all the types, but which also leaves them somewhat self-conscious, that is, highly sensitive to what others think of them. Loving and affectionate themselves, they need to be loved in return. In fact, Providers can be crushed by personal criticism, and are happiest when given ample appreciation both for themselves personally and for the tireless service they give to others.
Famous people with this personality type: Mother Theresa, William Howard Taft, Barbara Walters, J C Penney, Ray Kroc, Louis B. Mayer, Sam Walton, Dolley Madison, and Dave Thomas
its weird reading abt yourself online... some things my results said were scarily accurate!! for example:"Family traditions are also sacred to them" reading this brought me back to Christmas morning '07 when I actually was brought to tears with disappointment & frustration because my family refused to partake in any of our family traditions that Christmas morning... little did I know that this was a part of my personality not just me being emotional :) haha altho another test I took tho told me that I scored 20 points higher on emotionality than the average person... so its true that I am quite emotional
anyways all this to say... I think personality is so amazing & interesting!!! I love that I serve a God who cares so deeply about His creation and designed His children to be so unique!!! tonight I learned that there are 1,600 different personality types that have been identified!!! thats incredible!! ahh... God is good :)
